Mid-Hudson South Region
Bicycle & Pedestrian Master Plan
This bicycle and
pedestrian master plan was prepared in cooperation with Westchester, Rockland and Putnam
Counties. The study area encompasses all three counties, and is known as the Mid-Hudson
South Region of the New York Metropolitan Transportation Council (NYMTC). The plan defines
a vision for bicycling and walking in the tri-county region and builds on previous
regional and local studies to identify needs, define strategies and recommend projects
that improve conditions for bicyclists and pedestrians. Findings and recommendations are
the result of a public outreach process, field analysis and application of state-of-the
practice planning and evaluation techniques. The focus of the plan was to target specific
locations within the tri-county region, and propose solutions, treatments and practices to
implement improvements. The products of this study include the Master Plan report and
appendices, an Executive Summary, and GIS mapping.
